Outdoor Trends for Spring, Summer, Fall of 2007: “Gathering places”

The Outdoor Room Evolves Once More
Several years ago, the home furnishings industry was abuzz with the concept of “the outdoor room.”

People were spending more time out of the home, doing more things while there, and extending the months when they used their outdoor living spaces. Outdoor furniture manufacturers began responding by creating new products to match consumer’s demand for furniture that conformed to that outdoor room lifestyle.

AGIO is predicting for 2007 that “gathering places” will emerge as the new buzzwords in outdoor living for this coming spring, summer and fall. Consumers should readily identify with this term because it’s an accurate description of what they are doing in their outdoor room these days.

No longer do homeowners merely just go outside to sit. Nor do they simply grab a bite to eat or have a drink. They gather together.

AGIO, one of the outdoor furniture industry’s leading manufacturers, expects to see “gathering places” – and gas-fueled fireplace chat groups in particular – driving demand for its products to new heights this year.

AGIO sees consumer trends gravitating away from formal dining sets to higher bar or balcony height tables; deep seating collections will revolve around firepits as focal points where a coffee table used to suffice.

Tastes and occasions demand additional choices over the time honored “four chairs and a table.” AGIO still offers expansive collections from café sets to high dining, chaise lounges, ottomans to loveseats, outdoor sofas, and conversational or “chat sets,” not to mention the gas firepits.
